Read the sample IELTS speaking part 3 answer on the topic: How enjoyable do you think it would be to work as a professional chef? By reading this sample answer, you can get some ideas about different questions that will help you in the actual exam.
1. How enjoyable do you think it would be to work as a professional chef?
I think being a professional chef could be really enjoyable, especially for someone who loves cooking and experimenting with new flavors. It must feel rewarding to see people enjoy the food you’ve made. However, I also think it can be quite stressful because chefs often work long hours in hot kitchens and have to manage a lot of pressure during busy times. So, it’s enjoyable, but definitely not easy.
2. What skills does a person need to be a great chef?
A great chef needs a mix of creativity, patience, and strong time management. Cooking isn’t just about following recipes — it’s about experimenting and creating something unique. They also need good leadership and teamwork skills because most kitchens are fast-paced environments where everyone has to coordinate perfectly. And of course, hygiene and attention to detail are absolutely essential.
3. How much influence do celebrity or TV chefs have on what ordinary people cook?
I think celebrity chefs have quite a big influence, especially through social media and cooking shows. When they introduce a new recipe or cooking trend, people get inspired to try it at home. For example, after watching Gordon Ramsay or Jamie Oliver, many people start experimenting with dishes they’ve never made before. It’s a great way to make cooking more fun and creative for ordinary people.
4. Do you think cooking should be taught in schools?
Yes, absolutely. I believe cooking is a basic life skill that everyone should learn from a young age. It teaches responsibility, creativity, and even teamwork. Plus, it helps students understand healthy eating habits, which is so important nowadays when fast food is everywhere. If schools included cooking lessons, I think young people would grow up more independent and health-conscious.
