A piece of technology that I decided to stop using was the social media app Facebook. I first downloaded it back in 2013 when I was in college, and at that time, almost all my friends were active on it. It was exciting because it allowed me to stay connected with people, share photos, and know what was happening in their lives.

At the beginning, I used it almost every day because it felt like the easiest way to socialize. I could keep up with events, join study groups, and even follow the news. It was also fun to get likes and comments on my posts, which gave me a sense of connection.

However, after a few years, I realized I was spending far too much time scrolling through my feed without gaining anything useful. Most of the posts were repetitive, and sometimes they made me feel anxious or distracted. Another reason I decided to stop using it was privacy concerns, since there were frequent reports about data being shared without users’ consent.

So, about two years ago, I finally deleted the app from my phone. At first, it felt a bit strange because I thought I might miss out on updates from friends. But actually, it turned out to be a good decision. I feel more focused now, and I have more time for activities that truly matter to me, like reading and exercising.

Overall, I think quitting Facebook was one of the best choices I’ve made regarding technology. It helped me reduce distractions, and I don’t regret it at all.
