I never believed that technology has negative effects on us. One technological item that I stopped using is my auditing software. This software was provided by my company when I joined it last year. Though I already have an older version of this software, my company shared the access for a more updated version of the software with me free of cost.
I started using this software due to the nature of my work. My work revolves around financial auditing. I have to calculate the costs, profits, and investments of the company. This software is robust and gives a complete in-depth analysis after inputting the numbers. Moreover, it saves a lot of my time if I compare it to manual auditing without using any software.
However, after using it for 3 to 4 months, I realized that most of the time it made inaccurate calculations. Even when the numbers are right and the calculations are straightforward, it gives you poor analysis. In fact, I did not even know about this until my manager highlighted the issue. Therefore, I decided to quit using it.
I would say that I feel much relieved now that I have stopped using that software. No doubt, I do all the work by myself, which takes a lot of time and effort. However, I am happy because if I had continued using that software, it would have affected my promotion chances in the future.
