The map illustrates significant changes in Porth Harbour in 2000 and current ones.

Overall, Porth Harbour undergoes substantial changes such as marina (private yachts) was replaced by fishing boats, the castle was transformed into hotel, and cafes were constructed beside the lifeboat area to protect the drowning individuals.

The west north side of Porth Harbour in 2000 had Marina section that was transformed into Fishing boat area. The southwest side had an empty area beside car parking section for the public that was transformed into showers and toilet section, while the fishing section in the southwest was converted into marina. Looking to the north, only one dock was present for passenger ferries and this converted into two docks. In the south, cafes and shops were constructed alongside lifeboat area for the drowning people.  Just to the southeast, public beach was replaced by a private beach which was only reserved for the hotel. While the disused castle in 2000 was transformed into the hotel.

Band Score Analysis:

  • The introduction and overview are well written.
  • Some of the information is unnecessary [drowning individual]
  • There are many subject-verb agreement errors.
  • The use of ‘while’ is incorrect.
  • There are some punctuation mistakes as well.
  • Some of the important changes are missing in the body paragraph; the student did not mention that the hotel is now connected to a new road.
  • There are some mistakes with the use of verb tense [undergoes; the student should have used past tense here]
  • One major mistake that the student has made in this task is that she used the compass directions [south, west, north, etc] as a reference to give the location of each place, but this is wrong.
  • The student needs to organise the information in a logical sequence, starting from the bottom of the map and moving upwards, along with the use of different cohesive devices.
