1. How did your parents choose your name?
My parents chose my name Michael, because it’s a classic name that runs in our family. Actually, my grandfather’s name was also Michael, so they wanted to continue the tradition. Besides that, they liked the meaning — “who is like God” — and thought it sounded strong and timeless. I think they wanted something simple but meaningful, and Michael seemed to fit perfectly.
2. Does their name have any special meaning?
Yes, it does. As I mentioned, Michael means “who is like God,” which comes from a biblical origin. My parents aren’t extremely religious, but they liked that it carried a positive and spiritual message. For me, it represents kindness and humility, which are qualities I try to live by. It’s nice to know that my name isn’t just a label but also has a deeper meaning behind it.
3. Is their name common or unusual in their country?
It’s actually one of the most common names in the United States. There are so many people named Michael that it’s almost impossible to go through school or work without meeting another one! But I don’t really mind — it’s a timeless name that never goes out of style. Even though it’s common, I feel it still sounds respectful and professional, which is a good thing in many situations.
4. If you could change your name, would you?
No, I wouldn’t change my name because I’ve grown very attached to it over the years. It’s part of who I am, and it connects me to my family’s history. However, if I had to choose a nickname, I might go with Mike, which a lot of my friends already use. It feels more casual and friendly. But in general, I’m happy with my name — it’s simple, familiar, and easy for everyone to pronounce.
