Computer games people play

Read the sample IELTS speaking part 3 answer on the topic of kinds of computer games people play in your country. By reading this sample answer, you can get some ideas about different questions that will help you in the actual exam.

1. What kinds of computer games do people play in your country?

Well, in my country, people play a wide variety of computer games, but the most popular ones are probably action and sports games. For instance, young people often enjoy battle-royale style games, while children usually go for simple puzzle games. Actually, some adults also play simulation games like farming or driving, so overall, the choices are quite diverse.

2. Why do people enjoy playing computer games?

I think people enjoy them mainly because they provide entertainment and relaxation. After a long day of work or study, playing a game can be a quick way to relieve stress. Moreover, online games allow people to connect with friends or even strangers, which adds a social element. So, it’s not just about fun, but also about feeling part of a community.

3. Do you think that all computer games should have a minimum age for players?

Yes, I do, because some games include violence or inappropriate content that can negatively influence children. In fact, having an age limit helps parents guide their kids toward safer options. On the other hand, I would say that not every game requires restrictions—educational or puzzle games can be suitable for all ages. Therefore, it depends on the content of the game.

4. Do you prefer playing games alone or with friends?

Personally, I prefer playing with friends because it makes the experience more enjoyable and interactive. For example, when I play a strategy game with my classmates, we can cooperate and share ideas, which feels more engaging than playing alone. However, sometimes I also like playing solo games, especially if I just want to relax quietly.
