Read the sample IELTS speaking part 1 answer on the topic of How many hours do you usually sleep at night? By reading this sample answer, you can get some ideas about different questions that will help you in the actual exam.

1. How many hours do you usually sleep at night?

I usually sleep around seven hours a night. That’s enough for me to feel fresh in the morning. Sometimes, if I’ve had a really busy day, I try to sleep a bit earlier to get eight hours. But on weekends, I might stay up late watching something and end up sleeping more than usual.

2. Do you sometimes sleep during the day?

Yes, occasionally I take a short nap in the afternoon, especially if I didn’t sleep well the night before. Even a 20-minute nap makes me feel more energetic and focused. But if I sleep too long during the day, it becomes harder for me to fall asleep at night, so I try not to make it a habit.

3. What do you do if you can’t get to sleep at night?

If I can’t sleep, I usually listen to some soft music or a podcast. It helps me relax and take my mind off things. Sometimes, I just read a few pages of a book until I start feeling sleepy. I try to avoid looking at my phone because the light from the screen makes it even harder to fall asleep.

4. Do you ever remember the dreams you’ve had while you were asleep?

Yes, sometimes I do — especially if the dream is funny or strange. I once dreamed that I was flying over the city, and I still remember how real it felt! But most of the time, I forget my dreams within a few minutes after waking up. It’s kind of frustrating because I always want to know how they end.
