There is too much noise in many public places in cities.
What are the causes of this problem? How to solve this problem?
Many public places in urban areas these days are getting too noisy. The main causes of the issue are high traffic volume on roads and the spread of advertisements that are streamed at different places. The possible solutions to this issue can be introducing new laws.
To begin with, there are many possible factors responsible for loudness outdoors, and one of them is the large number of cars and public transport. Often, traffic jams occur and that is why the sound of vehicles is heard everywhere, especially in public places. Drivers honking horns makes it difficult for people to spend time outside because of the loud noise. This results in severe headaches and other related diseases. Further, marketing organizations have set up advertising screens that lure new clients to visit shopping centers or restaurants. They usually play loud jingles and songs, so it can be noticed by people. For instance, fast-food cafes such as McDonald’s are always creating new slogans for product promotion that are broadcast on screens present inside the store.
The noise pollution, however, can be addressed by introducing new policies at the administrative level. Firstly, authorities should limit on-road vehicles. That is, if less traffic is available on the roads, there will be less noise as well. Secondly, governments must make it a law that in public places no such promotional videos can be played in a loud noise. People go outside to spend their leisure time and loud noise is annoying for them. Consequently, they will not be able to chat with each other without getting disturbed. For example, in China, in parks and children’s play areas, it is prohibited to put up any advertisement screen. This allows people to fully enjoy their free time.
To conclude, while there is loud noise in public places due to higher traffic volume and digital ads on boards, it can be controlled by efficiently limiting days and hours to minimize such an issue.
