Some people believe that nowadays we have too many choices.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

A number of individuals hold the view that a multitude of choices are available to people these days. As far as I am concerned, I fully agree with this statement because of the major advancements in every materialistic aspect of life and the freedom to be able to choose for yourself from the vast variety of choices and opportunities.

At present time, life itself is advancing and developing in a new way every minute of the day. Moreover, people are being presented with multiple options for deciding various matters of life such as education, food, as well as the healthcare sector. With the invention of different disciplinary fields of education and the further branching of basic fields, students have many interests that they can choose from instead of selecting from the basic few. Additionally, there are more delicious and easy to make food options available compared to old days where only the common recipes were on repeat. Recently, picking something to eat is a chore itself due to the great many varieties of dishes. Furthermore, medical practice has significantly improved over the years, and one disease can be treated in multiple ways; like IV, physical therapy or tablets. This innovation has allowed people to choose what is compatible with them.

Another crucial factor which implies the availability of choices among the citizen is the freedom to choose. If an individual’s freedom was not guaranteed, they will not be able to think and choose for themselves. Therefore, people have a lot of choices, because they have the access to choose. For instance, back when women were restricted from doing most of the things that were allowed for men such as voting, owning property, and joining politics, they could not choose any of that owing to lack of freedom. In addition, availability of choices comes with accessibility to choose. Hence, in the present time, men and women have various choices and options.

In conclusion, critics think that everyone has multiple options, and I completely agree because advancements, in every walk of life, have created a vast pool of choices for the public. In addition, freedom to choose is also a contributing factor.

Score: 6.5 Bands

Band Score Analysis:

  • There are some subject-verb agreement and word choice errors.
  • The student has given a clear opinion and precise reasons.
  • The topic sentence of the first body paragraph should have been precise.
  • The structure followed by the student is correct, though it would have been even better if the student has made a third body paragraph and included the opposite argument.
