1. What kinds of books are most popular with children in your country?
Picture books and science fiction are very common in my country. Children love to see those colorful and beautifully drawn pictures and read interesting stories about different characters. On the other hand, science fiction books help them to develop critical thinking skills and think about the issues we face today.
2. Why do you think some children do not read books very often?
Cell phones are the main reason kids are not reading books today. They are mostly busy scrolling videos on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok because they find the content on these platforms to be very funny and entertaining at the same time. They do not find the books to be interesting; they think that books do not provide us with any useful information.
3. How do you think children can be encouraged to read more?
I think it is impossible to convince today’s kids to read books. They just love to use smartphones and visit different platforms. However, if the parents are teachers, educate them about the bad effects of cell phones, they maybe they will move towards book reading.
4. Do you think that reading novels is more interesting than reading factual books?
I find factual books to be more useful and interesting. They provide us with the knowledge or information that exists in the real world. There is no exaggeration on any topic. In contrast, novels are just made-up stories that are mostly based on lies. Something that will never happen in life. Therefore, I always find factual books to be more interesting.
