Read the sample IELTS speaking part 3 answer on the topic of children reading books. By reading this sample answer you can get some ideas about different questions that will help you in the actual exam.

1. What kinds of books are most popular with children in your country?

In my country, children mostly enjoy fairy tales, adventure stories, and comic books. These types of books are engaging because they spark imagination and often include colorful illustrations that capture their attention. Additionally, books featuring popular cartoon characters or superheroes tend to be quite popular because children can easily relate to them.

2. Why do you think some children do not read books very often?

There are several reasons why some children don’t develop the habit of reading. One major reason is the rise of digital entertainment, such as smartphones and video games, which are more visually appealing. Additionally, some children struggle with reading because they find it difficult, which makes them lose interest. Lastly, if parents don’t encourage reading at home, children are less likely to pick up books on their own.

3. How do you think children can be encouraged to read more?

I believe children can be encouraged to read by making books more interactive and fun. Parents and teachers should read aloud to them and let them choose books that match their interests. Schools can also organize storytelling sessions and book clubs to make reading a social and enjoyable activity. If children see adults reading regularly, they will also be more likely to develop a love for books.

4. Are there any jobs where people need to read a lot?

Yes, many professions require a lot of reading. For instance, lawyers must read legal documents and case studies carefully, while doctors need to stay updated by reading medical research. Additionally, teachers and researchers constantly read books and articles to enhance their knowledge.

5. Do you think that reading novels is more interesting than reading factual books?

I think it depends on personal preference. Novels can be more interesting because they transport readers to different worlds and let them experience different emotions. However, factual books provide real-world knowledge and help readers learn about history, science, and other important topics. That said, both types of books have their own value, and it’s good to have a balance between them.
