Read the sample IELTS speaking part 1 answer on the topic of which social media websites you use. By reading this sample answer, you can get some ideas about different questions that will help you in the actual exam.
1. Which social media websites do you use?
I mostly use Instagram and LinkedIn. Instagram helps me stay in touch with friends and family, while LinkedIn is useful for building professional connections and learning about career opportunities. Occasionally, I also check YouTube for educational content.
2. How much time do you spend on social media sites?
On average, I spend about one to two hours a day. I try to limit my usage because too much scrolling can be a waste of time, but I still enjoy using it to keep up with news, trends, and updates from people I know.
3. What kind of information about yourself have you put on social media?
I share basic details like my name, a few photographs, and my professional background on LinkedIn. I avoid sharing personal or sensitive information because I’m aware of privacy concerns and prefer to keep my personal life offline.
4. Is there anything you don’t like about social media?
Yes, one thing I dislike is the spread of misinformation. People often share news or opinions without checking the facts, which can mislead others. Another issue is that social media can create unnecessary pressure to present a perfect life, which I think can negatively affect people’s self-esteem.
