One car journey that took much longer than expected was a trip I made from Lahore to Islamabad last year. I was traveling with two of my university friends because we had planned to attend a conference there. Normally, the journey takes around four hours, so we left early in the morning, thinking we would arrive before lunchtime.

At first, everything was going smoothly. We were chatting, listening to music, and enjoying the nice weather. But about halfway through the journey, we suddenly got stuck in a massive traffic jam on the motorway. Apparently, there had been a road accident ahead, and the police had blocked the road for safety reasons. At first, we thought it would take only a few minutes, but it actually took almost two hours before we started moving again.

During that time, I started feeling a bit frustrated and worried because we had a fixed schedule, and I didn’t want to miss the important sessions of the conference. Also, sitting still in a car under the sun wasn’t very comfortable. However, we tried to stay positive — we shared snacks, took pictures, and laughed about how unlucky we were. Eventually, we reached Islamabad, but the journey ended up taking around six and a half hours instead of four.

In the end, even though it was tiring and stressful at times, I still remember this trip because it reminded me that sometimes things don’t go according to plan, and you just have to stay patient and make the best of the situation.
