How has global fashion become such a strong influence on people’s lives?
Do you think this is a positive or negative development?
It is argued that global fashion trends have a significant impact on the ways that people dress. From my perspective, it has been influenced the people through social media platforms as well as there are many new opening local brands every day . I believe that it is a negative development because it reduces the diversity in how the people look .
Firstly, Social media has become a daily diary for both celebrities and normal people. Nowadays, everybody shares their daily routine and how they look either at special events or in everyday life. The global fashion trends are driven by famous people who totally display their lives on social platforms. Consequently, they encourage individuals to follow these trends. As this happens as a result of the obsession with celebrities’ lives, teens and adults believe that coping the way they dress is decent and valuable.
Secondly, Local brands have spread widely all over the world. While, these brands have copied different designs from international brands. And the real surprise is that local brands have become able to provide the same international items with competitive prices and good quality. Therefore, people have encouraged to dress from these fake brands with a complete confidence.
Meanwhile, I disagree with this approach, because it leads to wearing similar items and it elemintaes the personal taste. It lets the international brands to fully control how people look for several decades. Furthermore, nations’ identities have been particularly lost since all people from different cultures wear almost identical clothes.
In conclusion, people have been influenced by what is displayed on their screens. In addition, the local stores have imitated the annual collections of many international brands, so it is considered an expected result in global fashion worldwide.
Band Score Analysis (6.5):
- There are some capitalization issues and other punctuation errors as well.
- Paraphrasing is done accurately, but it could be improved further.
- The student has answered both questions in a good way by giving proper reasons and explaining them in separate paragraphs.
- Some word order and word choice issues exist as well.
- There is a spelling mistake, but it does not affect the score too much.
- There is an accurate use of compound and complex sentences.
- Student needs to learn the rules of subject-verb agreement.
