1. What are the most popular types of films in your country?
There are different types of films that are famous in my country, and people love to watch them. However, the ones that get the fame are comedy movies because of cultural representation and jokes made in those movies, which other movies don’t have.
2. What is the difference between watching a film in the cinema and watching a film at home?
If we are watching the movie in a cinema, it will be more exciting due to the bigger screen size. Also, we can enjoy the movies with our friends as well. On the other hand, when we watch movies at home, it is not possible to fully enjoy them because we cannot invite our friends. Moreover, the sitting arrangement is not comfortable at home if we compare it to the cinema, where we have wide sofa seats.
3. Do you think cinemas will close in the future?
They may not close completely because there will be some people who do not like watching movies at home. It is true that online streaming devices such as Netflix, HBO and Amazon Prime is getting popular, still they will not result in closing the cinemas.
4. How important is the theatre in your country’s history?
Theaters have a huge significance in my country, as they provide a chance for people to learn about their cultural traditions. There, acts that are important for the culture of our country are performed through different tabloids. These tabloids serve as a source of learning for the people who then transfer this knowledge to the next generation. Resultantly, the important cultural traditions never die.
5. Do you think the theatre should be run as a business or as a public service?
I’d say as a public service. This is due to the fact that the acts performed at the theaters does not have a huge public appeal. So, if we are running it as a business, there will be some sort of enterance fee needed to be paid, which most of the people won’t pay as the tabloids are not that much interesting. Therefore, I think it should be run as a public service to keep the people interested in their culture.
