Describe a time when you started using a new technological device (e.g. a new computer or phone).

  • what device you started using
  • why you started using this device
  • how easy or difficult it was to use
  • and explain how helpful this device was to you.

One memorable time when I started using a new technological device was during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, around early 2020. Back then, I was still teaching in a traditional classroom, and most of my work was done either on paper or a basic laptop that didn’t support touch features. However, once everything shifted online, I realized I needed a more versatile and portable device, especially something that could help me teach more effectively from home.

After doing some research and watching reviews on YouTube, I finally bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, which came with a stylus. I was initially hesitant because I wasn’t used to Android tablets, and I was worried it might take a while to learn how to use it. When I first turned it on, the interface looked confusing. I struggled to figure out how to annotate PDFs or share my screen on Zoom. But slowly, by experimenting with different apps like Samsung Notes and Microsoft OneNote. I began to get the hang of it.

Currently, this tablet has become an essential part of my daily routine. I use it to conduct online classes, take handwritten notes, draw diagrams while explaining, and even record short educational videos. It’s helped me stay organized, be more creative, and engage with my students in a more dynamic way.

To sum up, although learning how to use this device came with its challenges in the beginning, it turned out to be a great decision. It has made me more productive, helped me improve the quality of my work, and opened new possibilities for both my career and personal interests.

Tip for IELTS Speaking Part 2

Many students just create the ideas in their mind in the first 1 minute of preparation time, and start speaking. This is completely wrong, so students should:

Write down key points on paper

Write all the important keywords of the ideas that you would explain in your answer.

Then, by using those keywords, you can speak for 2 minutes easily.
