Describe someone you know who has started a business.
- who this person is
- what work this person does
- why this person decided to start a business
- And explain whether you would like to do the same kind of work as this person.
One person I know who started a business is my cousin Sarah. In the past, she used to work as a graphic designer in a marketing agency, but she always felt like she wasn’t using her full potential. Even during her college days, she was passionate about fashion and would often sketch dress designs in her notebook. Eventually, she decided to quit her job and pursue her dream of starting a clothing business.
At present, she owns a successful fashion brand that focuses on stylish and affordable everyday wear for women. She runs both an online store and a physical boutique in our city. Sarah manages everything herself—from design and production to promotions and customer service. It’s amazing to see how her hard work and creativity have paid off, and she’s built a loyal customer base over the years.
In the future, I think she wants to expand her business internationally and open branches in other cities as well. As for me, her journey has really inspired me, and I’ve started thinking about launching my own business one day too—maybe something in education or digital learning. I believe that being your own boss and doing something meaningful can be incredibly fulfilling.
Strategy to develop ideas in IELTS speaking part 2
Many students struggle to give an extended answer in this part of the IELTS speaking test. Therefore, you should use the following strategy:
Use the PPF technique to develop ideas
According to this technique, we need to use three different verb tenses: Present, Past, and Future.
You will develop your ideas related to these three sentences, as you can see in the above response.
NOTE: This method is not recommended if you need good band scores. Try not to use this method if you have enough ideas related to the cue card.
